Thing is, we're all about to go to GenCon, the big yearly gaming convention in Indianapolis. We'll be bringing about 100 copies of the Maid RPG to sell. When we get back, and shit settles down, we're going to have links to buy the books, buy the PDFs, etc. We'll ship globally, cause like, shit, that would suck. My buddies in Australia and Japan and stuff have to spend like $400 US just for shipping on D&D Core books and stuff. That sucks, so we're gonna do our part for the folks overseas who are really interested in the game.

Anyway, stay tuned. Unofficially, the first Maid RPG books will be sold at GenCon on August 14th. But we're going to go "Official" and all a week or two after that. More info soon. Believe me, we want to help folks get their hands on this game quickly, so when we get back we'll be moving our asses.

Here's a taste, though:

(click on the pic to see a larger version of the cover)

* It's the first ever roleplaying game to be translated from Japanese into English! Yeah, for a while we thought we'd get Tenra Bansho Zero out first, but this one nailed that honor. I don't know if it's particularly telling that a game glorifying Maid fetishes receives the honor of the first RPG to return to the birthplace of gaming (the US, in English). If irony were fruit juice, we'd all be diabetic.
* It's a light comedy roleplaying game. If you're into RPGs and know your history, the feel is very much like an anime-style Teenagers From Outer Space (or TOON, but with more rules; and even more random tables!). Everyone is a Maid. The GM is a Master.
* The game can be pretty much picked up and played in minutes. It's extremely easy to generate adventures and scenarios, all you need is a few dice. There's tons of random events for all sorts of genres (even post-apocalypse, WTF?), so it literally jump-starts your game into motion, the rest is up to the players!
* You can run typical 3-4 hour sessions, or you could totally play a quick pocket game of Maid in 30 minutes. You can create new Maids each time, or go for an ongoing campaign!
* Hundreds of items with full descriptions, from new costumes, to random treasures/items, and about 40ccs of obscure anime/manga references in the book to keep your mind sharp.
* By the way, have you seen the kickass anime Black Lagoon? There's this Brazilian ex-elite army captain who protects a young lord dressed as a maid. You've got to check that shit out, she's got like a machine gun in her umbrella, and does king fu in a classic maid outfit, and the anime's not being tongue-in-cheek, it's all serious. Crazy stuff. Anyway, this is a total sidetrack, cause Maid games aren't typically as dark and serious as Black Lagoon. They could be, but that would be a little weird I think.
* This book is 222 pages long. Can you grasp that shit? 222 pages. 8.5x11 (that's almost A4 for you folks in Asia/Europe). But guess what, that's not only the core rulebook, which was originally sold as a 40-page book: This English version includes all the material from the two Maid Supplement books as well: Scenarios, Replays, Optional Rules, New Character Types, all that stuff. All together, if you wanted to buy the original game book and supplements in Japan, you'd be spending about $75.00 total US. The English version is only going to cost about 1/3 of that price. That's a better deal than a 2-for-1 from a used panty vending machine!
...Not that I know anything about that.
...Like the machine outside of Kyoto station, South exit: Walk 3 blocks forward, turn right, walk 2 blocks, turn left, on the corner there next to the beer and porn DVD vending machines.
* Why would anyone want to play this game? That's what I thought, too, until I tried it. Toss that shame away and get into the anime comedy mindset: This game is funny as shit when playing with friends, and genuinely fun and entertaining, too! It's not going to be, like, the only tabletop RPG that you ever play forever and ever, but it's certainly going to be an awesome diversion, which you can throw down anytime for a few hours of quick fun!
